Abstract

Aided by local and United Nations social units, the author has undertaken the task of "living with" statistically profiled "typical" families in every country of the world. Twenty-Six Eastern Hemisphere families are presented in this first of a planned five-volume set. Each chapter consists of color photographs of the family and its home, a two-page "day in the life of" narrative, and two pages of national statistics. This format allows for reference use as well as general perusal. In spite of limitations in the approach, Tremblay lived with each family only for a few days. This unique work offers great insights into contemporary daily life in the Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
